A closer look at statistics on cases of COVID-19

The provincial government has been diligent about updating the public on the number of cases of people with COVID-19 in Alberta.
However, there is a calculation they do not do that makes the statistics more encouraging.
According to Tom McMillan, assistant director of communications for Alberta Health said on April 2 the total cases they report includes all active and recovered cases.
There have been 361
recovered cases to date out of 1,348 total cases (as of April 6), which means
almost 27 per cent have recovered.
So, it is important to look beyond the number of total cases because, once the recovered cases are subtracted, the number of active cases is lower.
The map has also changed, no longer listing Claresholm or Fort Macleod as specific towns, but as the Municipal District of Willow Creek. It shows all the cases confirmed to date, breaking them down into active, recovered, and deaths.
Therefore, there is one case listed. It is not active but recovered.
