Mayor updates town on response to pandemic

The Town of Claresholm has responded to the concern over the spread of COVID-19 by closing facilities and reassuring residents.
Mayor Doug MacPherson issued a statement on March 16 stating, “From myself and town council, we would like to reassure residents that the Town of Claresholm is maintaining close contact with Alberta government agencies such as the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and the Chief Medical Officer of Health in order to ensure that the health and safety of our citizens and staff is maintained at the highest possible levels during this pandemic.
“As per this new public health restrictions issued in Alberta, town services may not be maintained at normal levels. The Town of Claresholm administration office will remain open to assist residents from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. each day. Claresholm and District FCSS (Family and Community Support Services) will remain open with modified hours.
“All town recreational facilities will remain closed until further notice. The Claresholm Senior’s Drop-in Centre and the Claresholm Community Centre will also be closed. The Claresholm Public Library will offer modified services by allowing residents to phone in requests for books that they can stop by and pick up. The library doors will be locked to all other in-person services, but many online options exist. Please phone the library at 403-625-4168 for more information.
“As we navigate these troubled times, be kind to each other. Follow the instructions of public health officials and stay home if you are sick. If you are out in public, remember to practise social distancing. Let’s all support each other as we strive towards a healthy community.
