Harvey Deering of Claresholm passed away at the Claresholm General Hospital on July 24, 2019 at the age of 87.
He was predeceased by his parents Gordon (1985) and Martha Deering (1998); and younger brother, Raymond Deering (1978). Harvey will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years,Vesper (Little); his children, Ron Deering, Judy (Dean) Rhodes, Korrie (Launa)Deering, and grandsons, Dylan Rhodes and Dayce Rhodes. Harvey is also survived by his sisters, Lenora Jackson, Ruby Anderson, Phyliss Norby, Agnes (Dana) Fancy, and brother, Larry Deering; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harvey was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on June 3, 1932 and was raised on the family farm. They moved to Red Deer for two years then settled on a farm east of Claresholm in 1950.He left to work on the oil rigs before returning to Claresholm to follow his passion and start his career in agriculture.
He married Vesper in 1959. They enjoyed a lifetime of happiness working side-by-side on their own farm east of Claresholm, raising their 3 children. Harvey loved all animals and always had a dog by his side.He was known for his meticulous nature in all that he did and was commended by many for this. Strong friendships and great memories were built through his love of team roping, where he won Canadian Championships in 1966 and 1970. Harvey’s sense of humor, love for his family, and many accomplishments will always be remembered.
A Private Family Graveside has been held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
