The Claresholm Under-18 Thunder advanced all the way to their league final before dropping the championship series.
The Thunder faced a combined team from Bow Island and Foremost in a two-game, total-goal series for the championship banner.
Game 1 was at Claresholm Arena on Friday night, March 6, which Bow Island won by a score of 4-2.
Ryan Van Langen opened the scoring for the Thunder four minutes into the first period, assisted by Blake Cisar and Kalob Dallyn.
Bow Island responded with a goal two minutes later and another 10 minutes after that to lead 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.
The visitors upped their lead with the lone goal of the second period to make the score 3-1 after two periods.
Bow Island struck again eight minutes into the third period, but Claresholm responded with a goal by Grayden Desjarlais, assisted by Dallyn and Ty McLean, with just over three minutes to play.
That was as close as the Thunder could get, falling by that 4-2 score.
That meant Claresholm had to win Game 2 by at least three goals to win the championship banner.
Game 2 was played at Foremost Civic Centre Arena on Saturday, March 7.
The home team jumped out early, taking a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
Claresholm responded with the lone goal of the second period, an unassisted marker on the power play by Jace Flitton, to make the score 3-1 for Bow Island after 40 minutes of play.
Bow Island put the game away with two more goals in the third period, increasing their lead to 5-1 before Flitton scored his second of the game, assisted by Kashtan Beutler to make 5-2 the final score.
