U-11 Thunder bow out of playoffs

The Claresholm Under-11 Thunder wrapped up their season this past weekend with a two-game, total-goal series against Fort Macleod in Central Alberta Hockey League first-round playoff action.
The Thunder visited Fort Macleod on Saturday, Feb. 21, dropping a tough 12-5 decision.
Scoring for the Thunder were Lincoln Groves, assisted by Carter Dow; Groves on the power play, assisted by Kyden Vandervalk; Carter Zentner, unassisted; Vandervalk, assisted by Heath Flynn; and Alexander Laygo, assisted by Finn Sears.
The Thunder returned home to Claresholm Arena on Sunday, Feb. 22, where they lost by a close 8-6 score.
Claresholm fell behind 3-2 after 20 minutes, but rallied to lead 5-3 after two periods, before Fort Macleod counted five goals in the third period to skate away with the 8-6 win.
Scoring for the Thunder were Lincoln Groves, assisted by Canyon Slade and Alexander Laygo; Groves, unassisted; Kyden Vandervalk, unassisted; Groves, assisted by Tegan Riley and Xander Herman; Vandervalk, assisted by Carter Zentner; and Vandervalk unassisted.
Fort Macleod now moves on to play Pincher Creek in the league semi-final.
