Michael Martin Jay Risbey

Michael “Mike” Risbey of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on May 29, 2026.
Mike was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was raised in Stavely, Alberta. From a young age, he loved sports, but hockey was always his greatest passion. That love stayed with him throughout his life and grew into a lifelong interest in collecting hockey cards and memorabilia.
After graduating from WCCHS, Mike proudly followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Journeyman Power Lineman. He dedicated 45 years to the trade and was well respected for his hard work, skill, and commitment. Mike had a true passion for his work and took great pride in the career he built. The friendships he formed throughout the years meant the world to him, and his work family became an important part of his life. He valued the camaraderie, loyalty, and lifelong bonds he shared with the many people he worked alongside over the years.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Ken Risbey, and his brother, Robert “Rob” Risbey.
He is lovingly remembered by his partner, Karen; son, Ryan; daughter, Nicole; mother, Jean; and sister, Launa (Korrie) Deering. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who knew him.
Mike will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for hockey, his dedication to his work, and the many friendships he built throughout his life.
