On May 3, 2026, Harold (Harry) Douglas Riehl passed away peacefully at home.
Harry was born June 6, 1949 in Saskatoon, SK. He grew up on the family farm surrounded by his many Uncles, Aunts and Grandparents. Harry loved farm life, leaving home at early age to continue Grain Farming, Fencing, Truck Driving for Lambe’s Trucking, Constructing Claresholm Grain Elevators, Horse Wrangler at Wilderness Ranch Camp. He was a Forklift Operator for 30 years until his retirement from Triple M Homes in 2013.
Harry met his wife and best friend, Robin Riehl in 1977 and blended their children. Harry is survived by Robin, his wife of 43 years their children: JD Akins (Christina), Juanita Akins (Dave), Mike Bryan, Matt Bryan and Tyler Riehl (Megan).
Harry’s name lovingly changed to “Popa” with his Grandchildren: Natasha McAuley (Ryan), KC Akins (Shaw), CarLee Akins, Doug Bryan (Mackenzie), Emmitt Riehl, Amelia Riehl, Tiernan Bryan, Maddox Riehl, Isla Riehl, and Great-Grandchildren: Sage, Quincy, Oakland and Woodrow and Great-grand dog Kingsley.
Popa was predeceased by his son, Jeff Bryan and his parents, Mae and Frank Riehl, sister, Colleen.
Popa was a man who truly understood the value of life’s simple pleasures-the quiet satisfaction of watching his trees grow, the steady peace of the outdoors, and the labor of love found in his garden. Every year, he planted enough vegetables to feed an army, a testament to a spirit that was as bountiful as his harvest. Generous to a fault, Popa was always ready to share his time, his hard-earned wisdom and an ice-cold beer with anyone who stopped by. He found his greatest joy in the simple pride of watching his kin, whether they were working with animals or competing on the sports field. He was their biggest supporter and their most honest critic. He leaves behind a legacy of practical wit, most notably his frequent and beloved reminder to “use your head for more than a hat rack”. His sharp mind, warm heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by family and friends who were lucky enough to learn from him. Special thanks to friends at Clear Lake Colony.
To honor Popa in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Claresholm Health Foundation.
At Popa’s request, no formal funeral service will be held.
The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Home Care coming to the farm daily, Dr. Leishman, Claresholm Hospital, EMS, R.C.M.P. (Lars) and Chad Zentner.
Riehl, Harold (Harry) Douglas
