Our cherished mother Marion Maureen (Mikel) Hart passed away June 12, 2026 ten days after her 97th birthday. Mom was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Mary Mikel (Scott), her brother Clarence Scott (Sonny), sister Lorna, son-in-law Jack Brosz, and, in 2016, her beloved husband, Raymond Henry Hart; her brother-in-law, Orrin Hart and sister-in-law Margaret Hart; also her brothers-in-law Norman Kirkwold and Ray Jensen. Mom is survived by her sister, Verna Kirkwold, Airdrie, and many treasured nieces and nephews. Mourning her loss are Ruth Hart Budd (Robert), Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Davidson (Roy), Mikel Hart (Donna), and David Hart (Emily). Her grandchildren include John Gavan (Lorri); great grand-son, Alexander Jones-Gavan; four step-grandchildren: Marilyn, Sharon, Valerie, and Evelyn; John David Brosz (Kristy), and great-grand-daughter Brooklyn; Helen Vandenberg (Casey), great grandchildren, Zephyrine and Vincent; and Diana Koenig (Dan); Benjamin Hart, Chris and great-grandson Louis Hart; Daniel and Hannah Hart.
Marion was a devoted United Church member, a Brownie and Girl Guide leader, a musician and creative artist in many ways; decorating our family home, offering hospitality to family and friends, and raising a garden that grew ever more beautiful every season.
Mom had a heart for anyone in need. She made friends easily and came to the aid of many.
The family would like to express gratitude to Lisa Anderson, CAO, and the staff who welcomed Mom to the Porcupine Lodge and became her dear friends. We would also thank the staff at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre for their loving care of Mom in her last months.
We will miss our mother but we know that Mom, faithful in her love for God, free from the pain and challenges of life, is joyfully embracing Eternity.
The family asks that if friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, they make memorial donations to a charity of their choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Zentner Funeral Homes
