Preparations are well under way for the latest edition of Claresholm’s Winterfest.
At its Jan. 26 meeting, Claresholm town council approved a request by the Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce for the responsible sale and consumption of liquor at the Claresholm Community Centre on Saturday, Feb. 21, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the condition an application to the Alberta Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis has been approved and is displayed at the event and the chamber follows the town’s liquor and town facilities policy.
Council also approved a road closure on Eighth Street West from 59th Avenue north to the Millenium Ball Diamonds from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the fireworks display on Feb. 21.
A report from administration explained Winterfest will run from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., starting with live music on the ATCO stage, outdoor kick ball, a hay climbing pile, a ball hockey tournament, an indoor market, food truck and hot dogs from Welcoming Claresholm.
There will be train rides, fire pits will be available, and indoor Children’s activities will be offered.
This year, the fireworks will be launched from behind the Claresholm Community Centre at the end of the event, allowing attendees to enjoy the display from the event’s fire pits and beer gardens.
