Calling all potential snow angels in town

By Rob Vogt
When you are out and about town, Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services is asking a simple favour – can you look for snow angel signs?
If you see one, can you spare just a few minutes to shovel snow for someone who just may not be able to do that themselves.
Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services has signs available for people to put up on their property, requesting the assistance of snow angels.
Along with the sign, a shovel will be available, unless a volunteer would like to bring their own.
Then, it is up to the community.
Anyone walking by and seeing a sign is encouraged to do some snow shovelling.
Barbara Bell, manager of Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services, said they are relying on volunteers to make the snow angels program a success.
“There are many seniors in town,” she said. “Some cannot afford to pay for snow removal.”
Starla Alder, community outreach coordinator for Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services, said the program is based on similar programs in other communities.
She is asking people to help out if they can, when they can.
“You just need to look for the signs,” she said.
“(And) if we can all lend a hand when we can.”
Anyone interested in signing up for the program to receive a sign to put on their property can phone Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services at 403-625-4417 or visit their office on the south side of the town office building.
Anyone interested in being a snow angel just needs to look for the signs.
