It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Alice Black, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Gail will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George Black Sr.; children, Cindy Bodi and George Black Jr.; grandchildren, Alex McGaffin, Steven Bodi, Ryan Parisian, Amanda Bodi, Amanda McGaffin, Nathaniel Black, Kelly Black, Gabriel Black, and Violet Black; and great-grandchildren, Chase Parisian, Shai Tessmer, and Emma Mickle.
She brought a sense of humour and lightness to those around her. Her warmth, strength, and ability to find lightness in life left an impression on everyone around her. She was a strong role model for the women in her family, demonstrating through her own life the importance of resilience, love, hard work, and standing strong in who you are.
Gail devoted more than 20 years of her life to Calgary Co-op, where she dedicated herself to making the workplace a better place. Her commitment, work ethic, and dedication were a reflection of the person she was in every part of her life.
Family was the greatest joy and priority in Gail’s life. She had a remarkable way of making each of her children and grandchildren feel special, loved, and important. She was deeply involved in their lives and played an important role in shaping the people they became. Whether through her guidance, her support, or simply just being there when she was needed, Gail made sure her family always knew they were loved.
Gail leaves behind a family who was deeply shaped by her presence and has left an everlasting mark on the people she loved. The lessons she taught, the laughter she shared, and the countless ways she showed her love will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for generations to come. Her love will remain a part of her family forever.
Forever loved, forever missed, and always remembered.
Black, Gail Alice
