There’s a lot to do in Nanton all summer long
By Julie Barker
Nanton’s summer season is in full swing.
Markets, rodeos, swim meets, and more fill the calendar.
Summer in Nanton is shaping up to be one for the books, with July and August offering a lively mix of local events that showcase the heart of the community.
Every Saturday through July and August, the Nanton United Church Farmers Market is the place to be. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the downtown lot fills with local vendors offering everything from fresh produce to homemade baking, crafts, and preserves – perfect for stocking up and catching up with neighbours.
July also brings a splash of competitive spirit as the Nanton Marlins host their annual swim meet on July 11 and 12. Expect the local pool to be buzzing with energy, cheers, and community pride as young athletes dive into action.
Rodeo fans are in for a treat, with multiple Nanton Nite Rodeo events lighting up the ag grounds, including dates on July 5, 10, 24 and Aug. 3. The Ranch Rodeo returns July 18-19, while Nanton Pro Rodeo caps off the summer on Aug. 22-23.
One of the biggest events of the year, Nanton Round-Up Days, runs Aug. 1-4. Highlights include the community parade, chilli cook-off, duck race, glow swim, children’s festival, and more. Whether you’re a long-time local or visiting for the weekend, it’s a weekend packed with tradition and fun.
Community involvement continues with monthly Chamber of Commerce board meetings, open to the public, held on July 24 and Aug. 28 at 7 p.m at the Nanton Quality of Life Foundation (FCSS) building. It’s a great opportunity for residents to stay informed and share their ideas.
With something for everyone – markets, swim meets, rodeos, family-friendly fun, and civic engagement – Nanton’s summer line-up invites residents and visitors alike to come out and celebrate everything that makes this community shine.
