Claresholm Under-11 Thunder win weekend pair

The Claresholm Under-11 Thunder remain atop the Central Alberta Hockey League Tier-3 Blue Division after two more home wins on the weekend.
The Thunder hosted Coaldale on Saturday, Feb. 8, winning by a score of 6-4.
Courtland Blake opened the scoring for Claresholm, assisted by Quinn McIntyre and Lincoln Groves, but Coaldale tied the game just over two minutes later.
McIntyre then gave Claresholm a 2-1 lead with exactly six minutes left in the first period on the power play, assisted by Rhet Schuler.
However, Coaldale tied the game just over a minute later to make the score 2-2 after 20 minutes of play.
Claresholm took control of the game in the second period. After McIntyre made the score 3-2 on a short-handed goal assisted by Blake, and Coaldale again tied the game, the Thunder seized the lead with two short-handed goals eight seconds apart.
first, Owen Martin scored, assisted by Heath Flynn and Schuler; then Schuler scored an unassisted goal to make the score 5-3 after 40 minutes of play.
Burke Heggie would give Claresholm a 6-3 lead just under five minutes into the third period, with help from McIntyre, and Coaldale would add one more to make 6-4 the final score.
Goaltender Beau Streeter-Anderson made 12 saves for the win in net.
The Thunder were back on the ice at Claresholm Arena on Sunday, Feb. 9, blowing out Vulcan by a score of 13-1.
They would score two goals in the first period, eight in the second period, and three more in the final 20 minutes to win by that 13-1 score.

Goaltender Dominic Martineau made 22 saves for the win in net.
