Applications open for Thunder Alumni Tournament grants
By Rob Vogt
The Claresholm Thunder Alumni is now accepting applications for its grants program.
Two years ago, the inaugural Claresholm Thunder Alumni hockey tournament generated more than $31,000 and is investing that back into the community.
They supported organizations such as the Claresholm Child Care Society; Claresholm Animal Rescue Society; Claresholm Food Bank; Shop of Wonders: Willow Creek Composite High School Sports Society; junior golf program; and the Claresholm Arts Society.
Now, they are welcoming applications from community groups to apply for funding.
“Any group can apply,” said Jenn Mackin, of the Claresholm Thunder Alumni hockey tournament committee.
In making its decisions, the committee requires information, so applicants will need to answer these questions:
1) What local group do you belong to?
2) What role do you play in your local group?
3) How would money donated from the charity hockey tournament benefit your group?
4) What would your group use the money for?
5) Please provide a brief paragraph on how your group benefits the most people in the community.
6) Tell the committee about your group.
Applicants are also asked to indicate how much funding they are requesting, to help the committee decide.
The application formed can be found at surveyheart.com/form/677d386e2b60a23c55743bab
The deadline for applications is March 3.
The second Claresholm Thunder Alumni hockey tournament will take place at the Claresholm Arena from March 28 to 30.
Proceeds from the event will be invested back into the community.
