‘The Holiday Jukebox’ takes stage Thursday
By Rob Vogt
What would you do if there was a chance you would lose your community hall?
A group of young people decided to host a talent show to save theirs.
That is the premise of “The Holiday Jukebox”, the latest production being staged by Stavely’s Unique Character House, or SUCH Drama group.
“The Holiday Jukebox” will take the stage at the Claresholm Social Centre on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m.; and on Saturday, Dec. 7 for two shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“It’s a fun, Christmas show,” said Jennifer Kewley of SUCH Drama. “(It’s about) a group of young adults trying to save their community centre by putting on a talent show.”
“The Holiday Jukebox” has a cast of 21 members from Claresholm, Stavely, and Nanton.
It is being directed by Sydney Slevin and Alec Harrison, who are both first-time directors.
It was written by Annalisa Harrison; Chris Slevin is the music director; and Bonnie Cartmell is the vocal coach.
Annalisa Harrison invites everyone to come check out the show.
“Get into the Christmas spirit,” she said, adding SUCH Drama wanted to have the play early in December. “We wanted to make sure we could hit the festive time.”
With Old Fashioned Christmas taking over downtown Claresholm on Friday night, SUCH Drama is starting “The Holiday Jukebox” at 8 p.m., so no one will miss out.
“You can roll right from shopping into the play,” Kewley said.
Tickets are $20 for adults, and $15 for youth or seniors.
They are available on Eventbrite; by contacting any member of SUCH Drama; visiting the Facebook page “SUCH Drama”; and at the door if any are still available.
“If we have seats, we will definitely fill them,” said Kewley.
