RCMP welcomes new member

The newest member of the Claresholm detachment of the RCMP is settling in nicely.
Constable Marcus Henningsson started his posting in Claresholm on April 12, just four days after graduating from training at Depot in Regina on April 8.
His trainer is Constable Chris Vytek.
“I’m really enjoying it,” he said. “The community is fantastic.
“Everybody’s very receptive.”
Henningsson, whose father is from Sweden and mother is Canadian, was born in Sweden, but grew up in Ottawa.
When he was 18, he moved to Lethbridge, because he wanted to get out and explore more of the country.
His long-term goal is to become a member of the RCMP’s emergency response team, where he can help people while staying fit and active.
Until then, he is working general duty where he plans to learn all he can, and is happy to do it in Claresholm.
“It’s a really good place to learn (and) get started,” Henningsson said.
The RCMP also has a lot of experienced members in Claresholm and surrounding detachments.
“I’m always learning from somebody new,” Henningsson said.
He also really enjoys the fact the community is open and welcoming, and people are always smiling and waving to him.
“If you see me, give me a wave,” he said. “(And) come talk to me.”
