Claresholm bantam football Cobras lose to Lethbridge Cougars

The Claresholm Cobras bantam football team ran into a bigger, stronger, more experienced team this past weekend.
The Cobras hosted the Lethbridge Cougars at the “Snake Pit” at the Willow Creek Composite High School field on Saturday, Sept. 7, losing by a score of 34-12.
Claresholm was first on the scoreboard as Grayson McClung scored a touchdown to make the score 6-0.
The Cougars responded with a touchdown of their own, and added a two-point convert to make the score 8-6, which was how it stayed after the first quarter of play.
Lethbridge scored the only touchdown of the second quarter, making the score 14-6 for the Cougars going into the halftime intermission.
The Cougars came out strong after the break, scoring another touchdown and adding the two-point conversion to make the score 22-6.
Claresholm responded, as Drake Perry scored a touchdown to close the gap to 22-12 for the Cougars to end the third quarter.
It was all Lethbridge after that, as they added two more touchdowns to make the final score 34-12 for the Cougars.

The next home game for the U-15 Cobras is Friday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m. at the “Snake Pit”.
Peewee football
The Claresholm Cobras peewee, or Under-13, team played in Cardston on Sept. 5, defeating the Cougars by a score of 21-7.
The first home game for the U-13 Cobras is Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. when they face the Coaldale Spartans at the “Snake Pit” in a return match.
