By Rob Vogt

Roostertail’s Hair Salon is the winner of the Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce roots of excellence award.
The chamber handed out its “Best of Claresholm” business awards at a gala celebration at the Claresholm Community Centre on Saturday, Nov. 23.
This award is open to all local businesses in operation for at least 15 years; may be awarded to a business or a sole proprietor; and may be awarded posthumously. It recognizes a business with a legacy of positively affecting the Claresholm community in distinct and memorable ways. The winner is a role model for new businesses, a community leader, and an integral part of the business community.
The nomination said, “The service you receive from this salon is amazing. The girls are all friendly, helpful and skilled.
“The owner is always willing to give young people in the business an opportunity to learn, grow and build a business of their own. She’s a great teacher, and mentor for the young staff; and has had many long-term staff members through the 20-plus years she’s been in business.
“The staff are all very knowledgeable about the products they offer, and can recommend the right products for you to use. Their prices are low, probably too low, but they want to keep people coming back. I know they love their clients just as much as we love them.
“They are great community supporters as well! I’ve seen many donations to fundraising raffles, silent auctions and such over the years.
“And to top it all off I have always left feeling better about myself than when I walked in.”
The other nominees were Claresholm Veterinary Services; Challand Concrete; Casa Roma Pizza and Steakhouse; and Harry’s Tirecraft.
