Alsgard, Alan

June 21, 1937 – July 5, 2023

Alan was born in Claresholm; only son to Andrew and Minnie Alsgard.
His early years were spent in Granum and the family moved to Stavely in 1945. He attended his first years of schooling at Mountain Peak school and then bussed to town.
Other than a short period of time in Penticton B.C., his life was spent farming and “consulting“ with the boys on how to do things. In addition to the farm, he spent many years as an insurance adjuster for Alberta Hail and Crop insurance.
He is survived by his children Denise (Craig), Bruce “Archie”, Donna (Phil), Jack (Trudi); grandchildren Dale, Kari, Dean, Lisa, Sheena, Sarah, Tara and Tian; 11 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Joan Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Lois, daughters Marjorie and Susan, three infant grandsons, and his sisters Lorraine and Carol.
A memorial service will be held on August 18, 2023 at 11 AM at the Stavely Cemetery with lunch to follow at the Stavely Community Center. We were instructed to “Don’t worry about planting me, make sure to get the haying done.”
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jack Ady Cancer Centre c/o Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, in memory of Alan.
His lifetime work of “pissing people off” is completed!
