Under-11 Thunder take second in home tournament

The Claresholm Under-11 Thunder hockey team gave their fans plenty to cheer about as they advanced all the way to the championship final of their home tournament this weekend.
The Thunder opened the tournament Friday night, Dec. 2, with a 20-0 win over the Calgary Wolverines.
Scoring for Claresholm were Tucker Stewart with 10 goals and two assists; Owen Martin with four goals and an assist; Cohen Smith with three goals and an assist; Briar Smith with a goal and three assists; Nolan Billey with two goals and an assist; CourtlandāBlake with a goal and two assists; Cashton Slade with three assists; Shaeya Flynn and Rowynn Zentner with two assists each; and Avery Gibson-Morrison and Quinn MacIntyre with an assist each.
After a 16-8 win over a combined team from Foremost and Bow Island, on Saturday morning, Dec. 3, the Thunder defeated Brooks by a score of 16-3 on Saturday night.
Scoring for Claresholm were Tucker Stewart with eight goals and an assist; Owen Martin with three goals; Briar Smith with two goals and an assist; Quinn MacIntyre with a goal and three assists; Cohen Smith with a goal and two assists; Nolan Billey with a goal and an assist; Shaeya Flynn with three assists; Courtland Blake, Avery Gibson-Morrison, Clark Olive, and Rowynn Zentner with two assists each; and Dominic Martineau and Cashton Slade with an assist each.
Those results put Claresholm in the championship final against Bow Island/Foremost, who won by a score of 12-8.
The Thunder led 4-3 after the first period, and trailed 7-6 after two periods, before their opponents went on to the win.
