Rena Bell (nee Grose), of Claresholm, AB passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the age of 91 years. Rena was born in Lacombe, Alberta on April 26, 1930, and grew up on the family farm southeast of town. She attended the one-room Eclipse Country School and then Clive High School. Later, she trained to be a Certified Nursing Aide. Rena first met her husband, Neil Bell, on the phone while working for a while as a telephone operator. They were married in 1960 and had two sons. She enjoyed cooking at Bible camps in the summer.
The family moved to Calgary in 1974. She and Neil moved to Medicine Hat in 1988 and returned to Calgary in 1999. She moved to Claresholm after the death of her husband in 2008.
Rena enjoyed baking, camping, and hiking, playing the church organ as well as singing in the choir. She loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. One of Rena’s favourite Bible verses was “… Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day…” (I Corinthians 15:3-4).
Rena is survived by her two sons, Brian (Sylvia) of Calgary and Dale of Claresholm; two grandchildren, Brady of Calgary and Amy of Victoria; brother Albert Grose of Ponoka, and sister Ruth (Helmut) Abler of Germany; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Neil Bell, parents Martha and Stanley; two brothers, Herbert and Duane and sister Olive.
Funeral Services will be held at Faith Community Baptist Church in Claresholm on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. A private family Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
