The Town of Claresholm is urging people remain vigilant in taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus after a spike in cases in Claresholm.
According to the latest data from Alberta Health on Oct. 27, there are now 15 active cases and 19 recovered cases.
The Town of Claresholm issued the following statement on social media on Oct. 26 when they heard of the news of the increased number of cases:
“As our community, our province, our country and our world are seeing a steep increase in COVID-19 cases, we would like to remind all our citizens that it is critically important that we are all extra vigilant in our everyday lives.
“That means wearing a mask when you’re out in public spaces, not touching your face, washing your hands frequently and limiting your close contacts.
“If you feel unwell, stay home. Making smart decisions today could make a real difference in the lives of those you care about tomorrow.
“By being careful, you are taking care of yourself as well as being respectful of others.”
A further update was sent out Oct. 27 that added:
“It is very important to remember that this virus does not discriminate and that anyone can contract it. Show compassion to those who may have become infected, and help out if you can.
“With Halloween coming up this week, please be extra careful when you are making plans. If you are participating in festivities, keep it within your own cohorts and limit your contacts. If you have any events or gatherings planned in the coming weeks, consider postponing, cancelling or highly modifying them. Remember that this virus is still very much a part of our lives and will be affecting us for some time to come. The sooner we can stop the spread, the sooner we can get back to more normal activities. We will all celebrate again together when it is safe to do so.
