April 27, 1952 – August 24, 2020
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Butch Boucher at the St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 68.
Butch made his home in Claresholm for close to 40 years and was a familiar friendly face about town. Born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, he lived and went to school there until heading to Peace River with his family in his late teens. After several years there he made his way to Claresholm where he was employed by the town. He worked at the arena in the winter and parks in the summer months. There are many who will fondly remember him circling the rink on the Zamboni and keeping everybody in line! After retiring from the town he drove for the Claresholm Transportation Society which he really enjoyed as he was able to hear his passenger’s health journeys and bolster their spirits. He was a member of the Claresholm Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, and active member of the Claresholm Lions Club, a board member for the Claresholm Housing Authority, coached hockey, put on Canada day fireworks displays for many years, and was always available to help where he could.
He enjoyed a good campfire, cooking, identifying birds, golf, listening to music and spending time with friends and family. We will miss his lovable self!
He is survived by his long time partner Lorna Musick and and son Michael Boucher and daughter Sarah Legere (Daniel Legere), along with their mother Marilyn Watt, Lorna’s children Erin Musick (Steven Fernihough) and Shawn Musick, and grandchildren Riley Boucher, Nate Legere, Dax Legere, Christopher Ashford and Bow Ashford.
He is predeceased by his parents Rene and Therese Boucher and brother Raymond Boucher.
A private family internment will be held in Claresholm at a date yet to be determined.
Much gratitude to the caregivers at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care unit in Lethbridge who comforted him in his final days. We are forever grateful.
