April 11, 1947 – Lethbridge, Alberta
October 21, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Kathleen Lovina Taylor (nee Stringam), our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend, is at peace. Her lovely soprano voice soared and her personality sparkled, filling our lives with love, laughter and song and she will be deeply missed. Kathleen passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at age 72. Kathleen was born April 11, 1947 and was blessed to have her Grandma Stringam’s first name as her middle name. It proved prescient because she was blessed, too, with that grandmother’s clever fingers and talent for artistic creation. Kathleen always had a project on the go and many of us are the happy recipients of her beautiful hand embroidery and many other skillful creations. Kathleen spent her early years on her parents’, Bryce and Mary Stringam’s ranch near Rosemary, Alberta. From a young age her life was filled with music. She sang in operas and musical theatre; she sang in church services and for funerals and weddings; and she taught singing and led church and community choirs. Kathleen spent the last part of her career with Standard Parking Corporation as their Senior Vice President, Operations – Canada. She was responsible for managing the growing Canadian operations. Previously as Executive Director, Canadian Parking Association, Kathleen introduced a parking management certification program, created the World Parking Symposium and joined the European Union COSTS project team. Kathleen enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world with both business responsibilities and pleasure.
Kathleen had a rich family life. Her husband, Robert W. B. Taylor, predeceased her. She’s survived by her four sons, James (Janine), Matthew (Lisa), Stuart (Beth), and John (Kate); her stepchildren, Don Taylor, Cynthia Chambers (Mike), Bob Taylor, and Jim Taylor (Sue). Kathleen’s passing is also mourned by her twenty-seven grandchildren and her six siblings, Anne Tingle, Jean Stringam, Dennis Stringam, Emily Beth Walton (John), Susannah Stringam (Kim Fernie), and Esther Kantner (James); as well as the countless people whose lives she blessed through her service. Those who were privileged to know her have appreciated her generous talent and enjoyed her friendship.
Memorial Services was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2021 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 02, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
