Reducing Risk
The Willow Creek Composite High School Grade 9 class attended a day-long risk reduction session at the Claresholm Community Centre on Wednesday, Feb. 28, where they learned the perils of impaired or distracted driving, as well as some of the tools to provide assistance and make better decisions. The day began with a scenario that saw students involved in an accident caused by distracted driving. It takes them through emergency services responding and extricating the victim, taking them to the hospital, and receiving medical attention. In the end, the injured student dies. That served as a jumping off point for a number of stations, where students learned a variety of skills. Kyle Vogelaar, is shown here trying to walk a straight line while wearing drunk goggles.
