Cobras ground Eagles in home basketball finale

The Willow Creek Composite High School senior varsity boys’ basketball team closed out an undefeated regular season at home with a big win against one of the Deep South Conference’s traditional power houses.

The Immanuel Christian Eagles of Lethbridge paid a visit to Claresholm on Wednesday, Feb. 7, losing to a faster, stronger Cobras team by a score of 79-65.

The Cobras jumped out to an early double-digit lead that held up at 38-28 at halftime.

Claresholm took control in the third quarter then, using most of their bench, went on to the 79-65 victory.

The top scorers for the Cobras were Nic Harder with 22 points; Jean Pierre Otero Rodriguez with 13 points; and Nick Anderson with nine points.

The junior varsity Cobras had to hold off a late surge by their opponents to win 74-71, after leading 39-32 at halftime.

The top scorers for the junior Cobras were Jackson Wright with 21 points; George Wollersheim with 17 points; and Daxton Woodward with 15 points.
