Chamber of commerce hands out business awards

It was a night to celebrate small businesses who make the community the great place it is to live.

The Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce hosted their inaugural business awards at Putters in the Bridges at Claresholm Golf Club on Oct. 17.

The awards, held in conjunction with Small Business Week, were handed out in four categories.

The winners were:

• Community involvement, Your Dollar Store with More;
• Customer service award, Claresholm Eye Care;
• Most improved commercial property, Willow Creek Dental;
• Chamber business of the year, Roy’s Place.

The awards were open to all businesses except the chamber business of the year who had to be a chamber member in good standing.

All nominations were counted, and the top nominees received a nomination package.

They had to complete that package, which essentially meant making their case as to why they should win the award.

The chamber executive then selected the winners of each award based on the nominees’ responses.
