Local health care aide named province’s best

A health care aide who works at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre was recently named the best in Alberta.

Claudia Nehring received the Alberta Continuing Care Award of Excellence at a provincial conference on Oct. 20 in Edmonton, for displaying exemplary performance in her work.

She was chosen from a field of well over 200 nominations.

“It was a special moment,” she said of receiving the award. “I was very, very happy.”

She emphasized the award is not just for her.

“This is a group award,” she said, and she would not have achieved it without the team she works with. “This is for all of us.”

Doreen Gould, site educator, nominated Nehring for the award.

“She just is one of those who stands out,” she said. “She’s always happy, always has a smile.

“Always sees the bright side of things.”
