August 11, 1932 – March 24, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Cornies of Claresholm at age 86.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Lorna Watson of Calgary, step children Darla Quayle of Cochrane, Dianne Percival of 150 Mile House, BC and Neil Wooden of Mexico; sister Erma of North Battleford, SK, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews throughout the provinces.
He was predeceased by his wife Marion in March 2015, as well as his parents, two brothers and a sister.
John was born in Rosthern, SK to John and Marie Cornies where the family of 4 other siblings farmed and did whatever necessary to make a living. In 1963 John moved out west to BC to work alongside his brother Jake in the mining industry. It was there he met and married Marion Wooden in December 1969. John lived and worked in Merritt, BC for Pooley Brothers Construction as a service man for many years before moving to Claresholm in 1980. There he worked for Trus Joist at the Claresholm airport for 15 years until his retirement in 1999. Since that time John thoroughly enjoyed travelling around BC, Alberta, and parts of the Yukon/NWT in his beloved truck and camper. He also loved to attend tractor/machinery/car shows any chance he could.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no service.
