Frank Baker, long-time resident of both Alberta and British Columbia, passed away on December 8, 2018 at the Willowcreek Continuing Care in Claresholm, Alberta.
He was predeceased by this wife, Sylvia, in 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Senderek of Claresholm, his son, Jim (Janice) Baker of Destiny Bay, B.C., brother, George Baker (Betty Mae) of Claresholm as well 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was born in Leslieville, Alberta on January 14, 1925 and worked on the family farm before heading to Calgary to work as a laborer, carpenter and building superintendent for the Alberta Government. He lived in Alberta until 1981 when he and Sylvia retired to Invermere and later the Cranbrook area where they lived until Dad moved to Claresholm in 2017.
A trained finishing carpenter he excelled in woodwork of all kinds, loved to fish and camp with Sylvia, hiked and cross-country skied with his family in earlier years, and travelled to many parts of the world. Dad loved adventures and until very recently enjoyed going on driving trips and picnics to see the prairie and mountain landscapes.
He will be missed by his family of whom he was so proud. Thank you to Dr. Leishman and all of the staff of the Claresholm General Hospital and Willow Creek for their special attention to Dad’s needs.
