Finch, Elizabeth “Betty” Alice

January 3, 1933 – January 7, 2024

Resident of Brentwood, CA
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Alice Finch, 91, of Brentwood, CA. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by love, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Betty was born the 4th of 12 children to Norman and Jean Lambe in Claresholm, Alberta. They were a wheat farming family. Mom’s life growing up was filled with hard work, responsibility, and the joy that comes with being part of a great big family! Mom never complained. Her childhood stories were filled with funny adventures involving siblings and the multitude of nearby cousins. Having lived the first 18 years of her life on the plains of Alberta with no indoor electricity or plumbing, she was not a fan of being cold! A favorite saying of hers should we complain about the weather, “you don’t know what cold is”.
Betty met our dear Father, Jerry, at a Grange Hall dance for servicemen in 1954. They were happily married August 27, 1956 until Dad’s death in 1998. They started their family life in Edmonton, Alberta welcoming Linda Lee in 1959 and Lori Ann in 1962. She always said it was her dream to have 2 little girls.
In 1965 seeking sunshine, warmth, and adventure they left everyone and everything and moved to Sunnyvale (appropriately named) California! Betty spent the next 21 years in suburbia being a wife, raising her girls, and working for AT&T.
Betty and Jerry retired in 1988. They loved this time spending “snow bird winters” in Arizona, volunteering at Sutter Delta Medical Center, traveling throughout the world, and spending summers visiting family members in Canada.
Betty loved Canada and was very proud of her western roots. She loved Country Music all the way from Wilf Carter (yes, yodeling!) to Miranda Lambert. She loved shopping, going to the movies a performance or play, and traveling. She loved to play golf, cards, watch football, go out to dinner or lunch. She loved a glass of white wine (with ice please). She loved the color pink, roses and shiny, fancy things! She was a great friend and had so many adventures with her wonderful “girlfriends”.
Betty was a loving and devoted Mother to Linda (Scott) Berridge and Lori (Pat) Schooley. She was an adoring and involved Grandmother to Jessica (Guy) Kornblum, Jackie (Justin) Andrews, Jeffrey (Jessica) Berridge, Jill (Eric) Morgan, Erica Marr, Emily (Clint) Wojtowitz, Sean (Colleen) Schooley and Jared (Alexis) Schooley. She was so fortunate to meet her 13 Great Grandchildren. She loved all of us so much and was such a great example of unconditional love and constant caring and support…We will all miss her so deeply.
Throughout her life Betty stayed deeply connected to her family. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Wallace Lambe, Robert Lambe, Mildred Daggit, Margaret Weile, Hugh Lambe, James Lambe and Donald Lambe. She is survived and missed by Mary Lambe, William Lambe, Wilbur Lambe, and Norma Prestergard. Her relationship with her sisters was a lifelong commitment to love! They were her besties!
Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Los Altos, CA.
A Celebration of Life will be held in March 2024 at Lone Tree Golf and Event Center Antioch, CA.
