Brown, Peter Thomas

September 23, 1944 – June 21, 2023

On Wednesday, June 21, Peter, our beloved husband, father, and Papa passed away at the age of 78 in Claresholm, Alberta. Cherishing his memory are his wife Janet of 59 years; sons Adrian and Matthew and daughter-in-law Lisa; also, his four treasured grandchildren Emily, Naomi, Kolme and Cooper. Peter was pre-deceased by his loving, older brother, David, on Christmas Day, 2022.
He loved his family in an unassuming and protective way and was a continuous role-model and “mechanical mentor” for his sons. “Nothing seemed impossible – stuff got done”. He could fix most things and he did, loved woodwork and had a project on the go all the time – a “busy” guy, could always be found puttering around his workshop and yard. He was a singularly lovely man, generous with his knowledge, sharing his skill with anyone who asked. Peter was known for his agreeable disposition but never a pushover. ALWAYS a fun guy with a youthful sense of humour, full of mischief, and wonder. Never too busy to stop and “invent” some fun way to spend time with his boys and, later, grandchildren.
Peter was born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England in September 1944 and trained as an Automotive Electrician. He was self employed for most of his working life. Peter and Janet were married in England in 1964. He emigrated to Calgary, Alberta with his family in 1979. Peter continued to work his trade in Canada until the mid-90s. After he retired, he worked at the Claresholm Care Centre as a mental health aide, which he loved and wished he had come into sooner.
Without doubt, Peter’s legacy will continue with all who knew and loved him.
Peter was cremated in Calgary; it was his wish that there be no formal service. Please join the family for a celebration of his life,
Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the Claresholm Social Centre (Senior’s Drop–in Center) at 5009 – 2 St. East, from 1 – 5 pm. Bring your memories and stories of our dearest Peter.
Our family acknowledges and provides a special thanks to Peter’s amazing care team at both the South Health Campus in Calgary and The Claresholm General Hospital.
