Wayne was the eldest son of Lloyd & Jenny Schlosser, born June 7, 1935 in Claresholm, Alberta. Wayne took great pride in helping his mother, Jenny raise his brother Clark and sister Gloria in their younger years.
On August 6, 1955 he married the love of his life Maxine (Fenner) Schlosser. They had four boys, Lloyd, Ron, Greg, Blake and daughter Tina. Wayne and Maxine raised their family in the foothills west of Stavely and Nanton. Wayne had many accomplishments in life, but his most precious was his family.
Wayne spent the majority of his time in the foothills and mountains. Whether it was chasing cattle across southern Alberta, or hunting with family in the mountains. He was happiest in his saddle or driving his team.
To know Wayne was to love him. Known as the truest form of cowboy. He was a master storyteller, an amazing teacher to his kids, and grandkids, employees and others who would come to try to catch just a little of his knowledge. He always spoke with a quiet confidence that made you want to listen. His wealth of knowledge was endless, and he had a way of teaching that made learning easy.
Rest easy Cowboy, Until we see you again.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute (University of Calgary, 2500 University Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1N4).
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life was held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at at the Stavely Community Centre.
