October 30, 1950 – January 22, 2026
Beckie was born in Simcoe, ON, on October 30, 1950. At two years of age, she and her family moved to her mum’s homeland of Scotland. After graduating from Dundee Nursing and Midwifery College she moved back to Canada. Strong and independent, she dedicated her life to her nursing career. In 2014, she was recognised for 40 years of contribution to the LPN profession and health care in Alberta.
A caregiver to her family as well, she deeply cherished her heartfelt connection with her beloved brother, Wyatt. Family relationships were precious to Beckie. She especially loved children and wrote and illustrated several delightful stories for some of her wee relatives.
Proud of her heritage and known as a family historian, Beckie made long time friends through social media groups devoted to Scottish culture. Beckie also loved Robbie Burns, the Scottish poet, and was quite a poet herself.
She was a thoughtful and kind neighbour in her small town after she retired and often spoke of her special friendships. Beckie passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2026, in Claresholm, Alberta. She will be sadly missed.
Survived by her niece: Jaime Princess McMillan of Scotland, and Jaime’s children and grandchildren: As well in Canada, Auntie Sheila Boswell, cousins Hamish Boswell (Sandy), Irene Cnockaert (Jeff Lilly), Catherine Dean, Dianne Boswell, Donald Boswell; and many cherished members of the extended family,
Predeceased by her mother, Ruby Munro (Rebecca Fleming Boswell); brother Wyatt James Munro; grandparents, James and Rebecca Boswell; aunts and uncles, Jim and Mary Boswell, Elsie Cnockaert, and Jack Boswell; and cousin, Christine (Boswell) Leithhead.
