Our Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and friend Kaye McKee, passed away in Claresholm on November 12, 2025, at the age of 95 years. Kaye was born in Hanna, Alberta on November 3, 1930, daughter of John and Alice Shand.

Kaye is predeceased by her husband of 65 years Bob McKee (2020); her granddaughter Amy McKee (1986) and her sister Sheila Campbell (2020).
Fort Macleod was where Kaye’s family resided during her younger years. After graduating from high school, she attended the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton and graduating in 1953. She worked at hospitals in Edmonton, Claresholm, California, Taber and returned to Claresholm which became the home where Kaye and Bob raised their two sons on a ranch west of Claresholm.
Kaye was part of the nursing profession for 43 years; nursing at the General Hospital, Auxiliary Hospital, and became Director of Nursing at the Care Centre.
She spent her retirement years travelling with Bob, participating in senior swimming competitions across Canada and internationally; playing golf, card games like bridge, canasta, and euchre; darts, hooking rugs, but her favourite past time, being an avid reader, was the enjoyment she received when reading books. She also followed all sports, especially her beloved Blue Jays, and had many conversations with her grandchildren around sporting events.
The family will always remember her special meals, that she never forgot a card or a gift, her words of advice and that she loved and prayed for her family.
A celebration of Kaye’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Claresholm & District Health Foundation.
McKee, Vivian Kaye (Shand)
