It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Mabel King, who left this world peacefully on
June 20, 2025, in Claresholm, Alberta, at the age of 72.
Linda was born on January 29, 1953, in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Gladys King. She was the second youngest of ten siblings, growing up with four sisters and six brothers in a home full of love, laughter, and resilience.
Linda’s greatest pride and joy in life were her children: Elvis Saunders (Corrina), Calvin Saunders, Wally Saunders (Abbi), Shawn Saunders (Amanda), Colinda Burrell (Brad), and Clyde Dawe (Amanda). She also cherished her role as grandmother to 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Linda will be fondly remembered for her deep love of nature, her passion for the long-running TV show Days of Our Lives, and her remarkable sense of humor. She had a rare gift for making people laugh and feel at ease, often lighting up the room with her stories and smile. One of her favorite pastimes was meeting friends at the local coffee shop to share laughs and a cold pop—simple moments that brought her great joy.
Her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, the joy she spread to those around her, and the countless memories shared with family and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to spend time with loved ones, enjoy the beauty of nature, and never underestimate the power of a good laugh—just as Linda would have wanted.
And when you see a butterfly, take a moment to think of Linda—free, beautiful, and forever close in spirit.
King, Linda Mabel
