In loving memory of Bernard “Bernie” George Sim who passed away peacefully at the Claresholm General hospital surrounded by friends and family at the age of 73 on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, after he fought a hard battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia, his father Norman, and his mother Francis. He is survived by his three sisters Norma, Val and Marion as well as his beloved children Christine (Charles), Angela (Philip), Trinity, Cynthia (Ken), Timothy (Tanya), Tracy (Paul) who each carry a piece of his spirit in their hearts. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Taylor (Logan), Carson, Sylvannas, Adrian, Blaynne (Clinton), Tyler (Brittany), James (Stacy), Mark, Brandon, and Jack who will remember their grandfather for his wisdom, kindness, and the joy he brought into their lives. Bernie’s great grandchildren Angel, Damon, and Carter will grow up hearing stories of a great man who loved them deeply, even if their time together was brief.
Bernie dedicated many years of his life to serving others through his work in the maintenance department at Claresholm General Hospital. His commitment to maintaining the hospitals infrastructure ensured a safe and welcoming environment for all who passed through its doors. His colleagues remember him as a diligent worker and a kind soul who always had a smile and a helping hand ready. Bernie’s life was one of service, love, and dedication. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Bernard’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:30pm at 110 2nd Avenue, Young, SK where friends and family are invited to share memories, and honour a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bernard’s name to the Claresholm Food Bank, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.
