It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Kubica at the age of 97. Jean passed peacefully, surrounded by family at the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital in Claresholm, Alberta June 10th, 2024.
Jean Kathleen Sullivan was born August 13, 1926 in Pincher Creek, Alberta. Jean moved to the Crowsnest Pass as a teenager and after completing High School she moved to Calgary to attend Hairdressing school. She returned to the Crowsnest Pass to work as a hairstylist and on May 11th, 1947 she married Alois Kubica. They raised their son Lee and daughter Judy in the Crowsnest Pass. Jean loved cards and never missed a bridge or crib tournament. After the passing of Alois, Jean moved to Claresholm in June of 2004. Jeanie, as she was lovingly known, quickly became a beloved friend of many through her connections playing cards. Living in Claresholm allowed her to be closer to family as well. Great Grandma was front and centre at every sport, concert, and school event there was and loved watching her great grandchildren grow. Jean also loved to shop and enjoyed the many trips down to the USA with Judy.
Jean will forever be loved and remembered by her son Lee (Arlene), daughter Judy (Frank). Grandchildren Dana (Blain), Greg (Darcie), Nikki (Rob), Paula (Nick), and Great Grandchildren Colin, Laci, Joey, Preston, Sam V., Ellie, Ivy, Sam G., and Ollie. Jean would have been welcomed into Heaven by her great grandson Max.
At Jean’s request, no formal funeral service will be held.
