June 23, 1930 – October 9, 2024 (age 94)
Gordon Glimsdale, beloved husband of Barb Glimsdale, passed away peacefully at the Claresholm General Hospital on October 9, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born at the Claresholm Hospital on June 23, 1930, the first child of John and Bertha (Hoffman) Glimsdale. He was raised on the farm East of Pultney and attended school in the district. In 1947 at the young age of 16 his father John passed away, and he stepped into the role of provider and farming became his lifelong calling.
Gordon was a member of the Lutheran Church his entire life. The neighbouring farm families provided him with a lifetime of warm-hearted memories, many of farming, camping, fishing, flying, motorcycling, snowmobiling and hunting. He also enjoyed travelling south in the winter to Yuma, AZ for 28 years after his retirement.
Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years Barb, his daughter Donna (Ron) Estabrook, and son Butch (Karin) Glimsdale, grandchildren Arianne Estabrook, Randy (Tara) Estabrook, Raylin Woodman, Tyler (Lezli) Sheen, Brady (Kaitlin) Glimsdale and Robby Glimsdale as well as 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Don (Myrna) Glimsdale and numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his father John (1947), his mother Bertha (1970), his brother Oliver (1997), and his sister Mildred (2020).
Gordon will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Special thanks to Dr. Smith and all the nurses and staff at the Claresholm General Hospital for their wonderful care and kindness.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation, Box 610, Claresholm AB, T0L 0T0.
