In celebration of her life, her family announces the passing of Frances Sharon Towler.
Frances, or Fran as she was known to all, was born January 16th, 1933, on her parent’s farm in Manson, Manitoba. She was the youngest of six children, a sister to and predeceased by Ron, Tim, Ernie, Annie and Ethel. After graduating from high school in Manson, she married in 1951 at the young age of 18. Shortly after marriage she moved to Saskatchewan with her husband and began a life of farming and ranching. This suited her perfectly as Fran loved nothing more than country, nature, growing living things and surrounding herself with family – lots of family! She enjoyed the hard work on the farm, the animals, the seasons and her massive garden most of all.
In later years (at age 57), she moved to Alberta to be nearer to her children and grandchildren and began her new single life with passion and bravery. She established herself in Claresholm and became a beloved community member, offering healthy advice, hugs, garden produce and baking (made with love) to all who needed it. Her Sunday night dinners were enjoyed and loved by all who experienced them. Fran was happiest when working with her hands – either in the garden, cuddling babies, volunteering, baking, sewing, knitting or anything else that kept her busy. She never stopped moving and was a strong, energetic inspiration to all who knew her. She worked hard by day and danced joyfully whenever she could. Her stamina on the dance floor was legendary!
With a great knack for staying positive, she had a favourite expression of “Oh well, that’s life,” which helped her move on from any adversity and was an inspiration to all.
Her life and energies were focused on raising and loving six children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren – her legacy. Sharon Sherman (predeceased by Jim), (Jared (Natalie), Jaci (Dan), Ashley), Ian Haryett (Kerri), (Crystal, Morgan, Dalin), Heather Berger (Arne), (Kimberlee, Daniel, Christine), Debbie Haryett (David Fowler), (Corynn, Christian), Dalles Daniel (Lisa), (Brielle, Wyatt), Elan Lees (Scott), (Chelan), and Great-grandchildren, Cadence, Avery, Fiona, Lozen, Holden.
She will be dearly missed by all. Due to current restrictions, a graveside service will be held for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARBI (The Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain and Stroke Survivors: 3412 Spruce Drive SW, Calgary, AB., T3C 3A4)
May she dance to her heart’s content in Heaven, knowing she is deeply loved.
