August 27, 1965 – November 23, 2021
It is with utmost sorrow that we announce the passing of Darlie “Lynn” Starr. Lynn passed at home on November 23, 2021,at the age of 56 with her loving husband by her side.
Lynn was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on August 27, 1965, to Walter and Joyce Martyniuk. While living in Claresholm, Lynn found her passion in managing the Seniors Drop-in Centre. Her passion and drive to help seniors in the community were endless. As she headed various projects, she took the initiative to ensure seniors in Claresholm were empowered to live successfully and achieve their wellbeing. She spearheaded programs that worked to bring groceries to seniors, providing support in the isolating times during the pandemic. She worked ceaselessly to ensure seniors always had a place to belong. Through her kindness and compassion, she was able to take great pride in her work and the people in her community.
Anyone who knew Lynn, knew of her zest for life; with her lively nature, she could always bring light and a smile to those around her. With a large and giving heart, she made sure those in her life always knew they were loved. Lynn was also known for her immense love of animals, always surrounded by her ‘fur babies.’ Lynn was known for saving strays and bringing them home, giving them warmth, love, and a place in her home. Drawn in by her smile and laugh, anyone that knew Lynn was energized by her very presence.
She was a devoted mother and wife, loving her family intensely. Lynn is loving remembered by her sons Donovan and Jesse, her daughters Laura, Lacy, Jessica, her many fur and feathered children, and her husband, whom she loved with all of her heart, Danny (Daniel). Lynn also leaves behind her mother Joyce, her cousins, nephews, brother Colhane, and endless friends. They will all miss her dearly but will be soothed by their memories and the knowledge that even in death, she held them in her heart. Lynn is predeceased by her beloved grandparents Chester and Iona, her uncle David, and her father, Wally.
The family will be holding a private service for Lynn at a later date.
Lynn will forever be in the hearts of many, and her loved ones know that she’s looking down on them and stealing peas from her grandpa’s garden.
