WEBSTER, Elizabeth Grafton

September 20, 1922 – Ilford, Essex – April 21, 2018 – Claresholm, Alberta

It is with deep mourning that we announce the passing of our Mom, Betty Webster at the age of 95 years.

Betty was born to Fred and Ethel Reed of Ilford, Essex, England. Betty met the love of her life, our Dad, Art Webster, at a tea dance in London during the war. They were married in 1944, and she immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1945. Mom and Dad worked together to build a home on the ranch west of Stavely and raised their family. Her favourite place was always “Happy Valley”. They were a loving and much beloved team right up until Art’s death one day after their 69th wedding anniversary and Betty‘s 91st birthday.

Mom welcomed all into her home with a radiant smile and a cup of tea. She enjoyed games of cribbage and Scrabble, cooked up the world’s best pancakes on the old wood stove, loved walking, visiting with folks, and was always there for her kids. Besides her loving husband Art, Betty was predeceased by her father and mother, and her brothers, John and Bill, and sister Joy.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life and mourn her death, son, Tony (Debbie) Webster of Nanton area; daughter, Joy (Jim Hestand) Webster of Maui; grandsons, Clay (Jennifer) Webster and Michael (Angela) Webster; niece Shane (Peter) Vallance; great-grandchildren; and extended family members in Alberta, NWT, Boston, Maui and England.

We wish to thank Dr. Smith, the management, staff and residents of Willow Creek Continuing Care who provided the comfort and care that were so welcome in Betty’s final days.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date at the Stavely Community Centre.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army, 1731 29th Street SW Calgary, AB, T3C 1M6, on line at www.salvationarmy.ca, or by phone 403-410-1112.Condolences may be forwarded through  HYPERLINK “http://www.mcinnisandholloway.com/” www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
